Men in the kitchen,

“My name is Damian, and I cook for for fun.”  This sounds like a statement that would be made amongst a group of people gathered in a padded room but yet, yes my name is Damian and I am a cook-a-holic. Believe it or not cooking is becoming a growing form of recreation amongst the men set. In days gone by the congregation to watch sporting events was accompanied by snacks an  maybe some minor cooking, now the cooking is the main event and the Tv is the aside.

Lion Fish - eat on sight!!

          Caribbean Sea life may soon be under attack by a ferocious predator most popularly called the Lionfish. Also called the Dragon, Tiger, Scorpion or Fire fish this prolific breeder with few natural predators of it's own can cause serious eco system imbalance. A voracious eater, an adult lion fish can grow to 18 inches or more and specimens have been observed to consume up to 22 fish within a half hour period.

Is Soca targeting advertising money? Are soca artists trying to take the guess work out for choosing songs for advertising material? Growing trend or opportunists?

I'd like to support, but what am i supporting ?

I would like to support the re-routing of the highway, but i would really like to know what i'm supporting before I jump in!! How do i find out more about the situation? Is it my duty to become informed and join up or should the movement provide access to more information so that more support may be generated??  Both I guess.

 It should be obvious that no matter where the highway is run someone is going to be inconvenienced. The route of least enviromental impact should be the one taken in preferance to the most direct or cheapest one. I haven't seen any maps of the proposed project so I have no clue what is going on.

I support the concept of activism but have yet to actually put myself in the line of fire as it were. Soooooooo...I will sit in my armchair a bit longer and see where this goes.

Truth and accuracy of information on the internet is of great concern to all, as Agenda Setting or outright fraud are real issues to keep in mind when consuming media. Instances of attempted grassroots convergence may soley be attempts at pocketbook convergence.

The following is an example of the power of social media. A "publicity campagin" has been launched against Joseph Kony, a south African Military leader, to bring him to justice for crimes against Humanity.

Either by unfortunate accident or unconcious design I am ninety percent oblivious to current news. It was a startling descovery that any local happenings of which I am aware comes to me through BBM messages or status updates and International news through the Mediatakeout.com site. Commuting to work takes me all of five minutes so listening to the morning talk shows are a rare occurrence.
Where do I go from here? What to do about this?
A friend suggested that I tune into the televised morning shows while I perform my morning routine in preparation for work. Purchasing a paper (Express) on my way to or browsing it online at work may also be a way to go and setting the TV timer to see the headlines on the ten pm news is also an option to be considered.
I plan to retake this personal survey in a month's time to see if I have improved, more importantly I hope I will feel the difference as I should be more informed.

I now know what I am supposed to be doing with this blog. Erasing my mistake and starting over was my inital thought but I have decided to just continue using a different direction. Here we go ....again.

Why does Blooger not spell check automatically?..

    The above was from a recent fete, the person who sent it to me did not mention which one but for some reason I doubt it was UWI, Bishops or Wicked in White.The line between moral and immoral behaviour usually gets blurred during the carnival season so as a complete non-participant in this years festivities i ask myself, does it still exist?
    Trinidad Carnival is becoming more about drunken abandon in fetes, highly sampled music and female exposure and less about the character portrayals, parades of costumes and social commentary.
    I agree that progress comes at a cost and that there are many posative aspects of Carnival but the loss of our personal moral compasses is not worth it.

New ting,.....

So...after spending two hours figuring out how to adjust this Blog-thingie, i thought i'd lost it. Another 45min looking, yup it's lost. A further two days complaining to anyone who'd listed, conclusion,....start over.

Nobody coulda tell me is just to sign back onto Blogger and stop wasting my time doing websearches to find it?? 
Ignorance is really bliss. I will never again shake my head at my dad when he trys to make a call from my touch screen phone and the next time my son asks if i've learned to play "world of Warcraft" i'm going to bust his tail.

Welcome to my journey into the world of new media use, the ride may get bumpy but i hope the scenery and destination will be worth it.
